Pizza Dough (Makes 4 Personal Pizzas)

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour – 3 cups
  • Semolina – slightly less than 1/4 cup
  • Salt – to taste
  • Cooking oil – 3 tablespoons
  • Baking powder – 1 tablespoon
  • Yeast – 3 teaspoons
  • Sugar – 1 tablespoon
  • Warm water – 1 cup

Toppings

(Customize as desired—cheese, vegetables, sauce, etc.)

Procedure

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, semolina, salt, baking powder, and cooking oil. Set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix yeast and sugar into the warm water. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes until the yeast blooms.
  3. Combine the dry and wet mixtures. Knead the dough well until smooth.
  4. Lightly oil the surface of the dough, cover it, and let it rest for 2–3 hours in a warm place.
  5. The dough should rise to about 2–3 times its original volume.
  6. This recipe makes 4 pizza bases, each about 7 to 7.5 inches in diameter.

Notes

  • This dough works well as a base for any type of pizza—thin crust or thick.
  • Adjust sugar or salt slightly depending on whether you’re making savory or sweet pizza.
